|
Masazumi Ohayashi pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Cabo San Lucas Toreros, despite Ohayashi's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Mile High Mustangs at Field de Los Layendas. Sylvester Richardson was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Kenkichi Kodo, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
With no one out in the top of the fifth, Jim Bungay drilled a solo home run to left-center. It put Mile High ahead, 1-0. For the game, Bungay was 1 for 4 with a home run.
"Runs were at a premium," said Mile High manager Joe Ward.
Mile High is now 38-31.
