The Ole Miss Rebels got a magnificent effort from pitcher Sergio Guerrero, who kept USC hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Rebels win at Ballpark of Wrightsville College. The slumping Trojans have lost 6 straight.

The Rebels beat the Trojans with some clutch hitting. The single by Andrew Istre in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Istre gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.

"Not to be Captain Obvious," said USC manager Tommy Hayes, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
