Washington State third baseman Andy Richards had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Richards hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, even as Arizona beat the Cougars, 11-4. Richards was named the player of the game despite the loss. Chris Hines, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Arizona is now 12-10, while Washington State is 12-10.

Grant Norton contributed to the Arizona win. The 19-year old second baseman stroked a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Norton went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Norton told the Arizona Bulletin.
