|
Vanderbilt rode a decent outing from starter John Gayden to victory over the Florida Gators at Ballpark of Bismarck College. The final score was 8-4. Gayden, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Vanderbilt is now 11-8.
Jason Valentine, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Jason Klein for a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season put Vanderbilt in front, 2-1.
"It's a mindset," said Gayden. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
