Tigers Knock Off Cyclones at Magistrates Ballpark
|
The Clemson Tigers and Iowa State Cyclones played a tight game at Magistrates Ballpark, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Clemson Tigers and the Iowa State Cyclones, Mike Justice was the difference-maker. The Clemson right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. The Tigers move to 5-12 with the win, while the Cyclones drop to 9-8.
The Tigers beat the Cyclones in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Joe Bates produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Iowa State pitcher Dan Barker, Bates gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Iowa State manager Theodore Foster, "let me know."
