Bulldogs Stick Cougars with 8-7 Loss
|
The Mississippi State Bulldogs turned back the Washington State Cougars, 8-7, at Tribe Ballpark. J.P. Pinkerton was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Shane Corley, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits in 0.1 innings. Jim Unknown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Pinkerton had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Jesse Meader, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Bulldogs a 8-6 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Pinkerton.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Pinkerton.
Mississippi State is now 9-8.
