Beavers Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
Louisiana-Layfayette got a terrific game from third baseman Aaron Kingsley. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Oregon State, 5-3. Kingsley was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Oregon State reliever Jim Proehl was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. John Cromer took the loss for Louisiana-Layfayette. Oregon State's record now stands at 5-10, placing them 21st in the Cliff Gustafson.

Hugh Zeigler, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a changeup from John Cromer for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put Oregon State in front, 4-2.

"We did enough to win," said Zeigler.
