Beasley hits 4th home run, 49'ers Move to 9-6
The Long Beach State 49'ers bested the Houston Cougars, 12-9, at Ballpark of Macclenny College. Bill Beasley was named player of the game. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to Brian Purdy in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kevin Freestone took the loss. Jim Unknown was credited with the save for Long Beach State, his 1st of the season.

Beasley had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Chris Sikora, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the 49'ers a 9-6 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Beasley.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Beasley told the Long Beach State Times.

The 49'ers now own a record of 9-6.
