Tar Heels Dump Seminoles, 8-3
|
The North Carolina Tar Heels topped the Florida State Seminoles, 8-3, with youngster Brian Wheeler playing a key role. Wheeler was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Tar Heels in the win. North Carolina reliever Andy Kennedy picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Matt Adams took the loss. North Carolina, at 7-8, occupies 15th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
In the bottom of the 1st, the Tar Heels grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by Omar Veliz. North Carolina at the time was trailing 1-0, but Veliz's 2-run home run off Matt Adams put his team in front.
