Buckeyes Pick Up 4-1 Win
|
Ohio State turned a good effort from starter Preston Williams into a win over the Kansas Jayhawks at Brutes Ballpark. The final score was 4-1. In 5.2 innings, Williams surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Rich Steverson picked up the save for Ohio State, his 2nd of the year.
Danny Jennings was 1 for 4 with a home run for Ohio State. The 19-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With no one out and the bases empty, he broke a 0-0 tie with a solo home run off Dennis Chambley. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
"I just made my pitches," said Williams, "and the ball kept missing the bat."
Ohio State now owns a record of 9-5.
