Gators Rally For Late Win Over Cavaliers
|
The Virginia Cavaliers got a sterling performance from right fielder Eric Kilpatrick, but the Gators still prevailed, 6-4. Kilpatrick was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Steve Paul recorded the save for Florida, his 3rd of the season. The Gators bumped their record to 8-6 with this latest triumph.
Florida took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, designated hitter Jose Lopez hit a 2-run home run that brought the crowd to its feet.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Florida manager Torazo Yamamoto.
