The Jacksonville Jacks had to overcome a big game from Portland catcher Ralph Blair to leave Waterfront Park with a 5-4 victory. Blair was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jacksonville reliever Kichibei Endo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Olivier Martin was saddled with the loss. The Jacks saw their win-loss record go to 27-39. At the same time, the Beavers fell to 31-38.

Arsenio Stamatelos's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Olivier Martin for a run-scoring single. It put Jacksonville in front, 5-4.

"We busted our humps out there," said Stamatelos.
