Volunteers Go Down to Defeat, 6-4
|
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets topped the Tennessee Volunteers, 6-4, with first baseman Simon April playing a big role. April went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Yellow Jackets in the win. Toby Hinkle earned the save, his 5th. The 8th-place Yellow Jackets have won 4 consecutive games.
A decisive at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Mike Backer, drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It made the score 5-4, Georgia Tech, and helped them go on to win.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Georgia Tech manager Reese Mitchell.
