Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Commodores
|
John Cox was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Vanderbilt and South Carolina. The Commodores right-hander was named the player of the game in Vanderbilt's 2-1 win. Vanderbilt reliever Jimmy Gregus picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. A.J. Galloway took the loss. The win puts the Commodores at 7-5, while the Gamecocks drop to 7-5.
Vanderbilt took a 2-1 lead on James Epperson's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run came off South Carolina pitcher A.J. Galloway in the bottom of the tenth.
"Exhilarating win," said Epperson.
