Tigers Prevail, 2-1, Over South Illinois
|
The Missouri Tigers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Mark Schwartz, who stifled the South Illinois offense en route to a 2-1 Tigers win at Ballpark of Ridge College. Chris Van Arsdale closed it out for his 2nd save. The Salukis, now 4-8, have lost 4 in a row.
One consequential at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, the batter, Ivan Lopez, drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-1, Missouri, and helped them go on to win.
"We scored one run," said South Illinois manager Justin Page. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
