Despite a great performance by Mile High designated hitter Evan Hemming, the Vancouver Pioneers defeated the Mustangs by the score of 9-8 at McNichols Stadium. Hemming was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Vancouver is now 37-30, Mile High 36-31.

There were several reasons the Pioneers beat the Mustangs, but one factor was Akio Ishii. In the top of the eighth, the Vancouver right fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 9-8 lead.

Ishii told the Vancouver Times: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
