Late Rally by Tigers Secures Win
|
Palisades Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Oregon State Beavers and LSU Tigers.
The bats were silent much of the day at Palisades Ballpark. But Evan Engel conjured up just enough offense to carry the Tigers past the Oregon State Beavers, 3-2. Engel went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Josh Denney got credit for the save for LSU. It was his 3rd of the year.
Mark McNamee's at-bat with two out in the top of the ninth was critical. The LSU second baseman hit a run-scoring single, to put his team on top, 3-2. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Oregon State manager Mike Cole said following the tough loss.
The Tigers now have a record of 8-3.
