7-4 Win by Golden Eagles Continues Hot Start
|
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Baylor Bears, 7-4, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Fernando Duran, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. South Mississippi reliever Mike Clark picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bobby Ranieri took the loss. South Mississippi is third in the Cliff Gustafson with a record of 8-3.
Duran had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the second inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Golden Eagles went on to win.
"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Duran.
