Victory Pushes Cowboys Record to 5-5
|
The Oklahoma State Cowboys defeated the South Illinois Salukis, 5-1. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Adrian Wesley, who went 1-1 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Bryan Marks got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Cowboys are now 5-5, while the Salukis fall to 4-6.
Had Doug Djordjevic not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Djordjevic hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Cowboys.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Oklahoma State skipper Chris Dunn.
