Tigers Fall Short, 6-5, at Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes had to overcome a big game from Clemson third baseman John Schafer to leave Ballpark of Bloomfield College with a 6-5 victory. Schafer was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Bobby Tibbals picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Efrain Almendares was tagged with the loss. The third-place Buckeyes lifted their record to 7-3.

Ryan Hampton's at-bat in the bottom of the first was significant for the Buckeyes. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Ohio State trailing 1-0, the left fielder grounded out, driving in 1 run.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Ohio State skipper Yoshii Kamuta. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
