The Virginia Cavaliers easily defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels, 14-4, at Bruisers Ballpark, with catcher Sam Lewis a main contributor to the win. He was 4-6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Virginia. The win was credited to Matt Jennings in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dustin Thomas took the loss. The win takes Virginia to 4-5.

Eric Kilpatrick took Dustin Thomas deep with no one out in the top of the fourth. On a first pitch cutter, Kilpatrick drilled a 2-run home run to left. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put Virginia on top, 2-0.
