The Tennessee Volunteers grabbed a 6-1 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacans at Cypress Quarters College Grounds. Tennessee center fielder Allan Nugent was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Joey Misiewicz picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jacob Cleverley was tagged with the loss. Ben Goodwin finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Tennessee second baseman Josh Miller contributed to the cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, Miller went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Tennessee manager Mark Ellis.
Tennessee has a mark of 4-5 after the win.
