Big Day for Drake as Bulldogs Down Golden Bears, 9-4
|
Mississippi State left fielder Matt Drake made his presence felt in the 9-4 Bulldogs triumph over the California Golden Bears. Drake was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Mississippi State reliever Pete Sweitzer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Miguel Salmeron absorbed the loss. The loss drops California to 1-8.
In the bottom of the first inning, Brian Wild went deep for the Bulldogs. With Mississippi State leading 2-0, he drilled a 3-run home run.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Drake told the Mississippi State Gazette.
