Sun Devils Bump Off Ragin Cajuns, 13-5
The Arizona State Sun Devils beat the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns, 13-5, at Field of the Dukes. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Zach Riordan, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Travis Gibson, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-0. Greg Matthews delivered for Arizona State in the top of the sixth. His 3-run home run off Louisiana-Layfayette pitcher Nick Bearden put Arizona State in front, 4-1.
