Michigan beat Arkansas at Siege Ballpark, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Art Barker, who earned player of the game honors. Dan Beard got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. The Wolverines, with just their 2nd win in 9 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Barker contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Michigan in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Barker took a changeup from Tom Baker and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Wolverines to leap in front, 3-2.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Barker.
