Commodores Squelch Cavaliers Offense in Shutout Win
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Ballpark of Barrow College enjoyed themselves.

The Vanderbilt Commodores topped the Virginia Cavaliers, 6-0, with youngster Jason Valentine playing a key role. Valentine was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Commodores in the win. With the win, Vanderbilt boosts its record to 4-3.

Valentine was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 against the Cavaliers. In the bottom of the first inning, he hit a 2-run home run that scored 2 and put Vanderbilt in front, 2-0.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Larry Vaughn.
