The USC Trojans defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 14-11, in 12 innings. Nick Giesler led the way, going 3-for-5 for USC. Stephen VandenHoek earned the save, his 1st. With the win, USC improves its record to 4-3.

Tommy Boles's hit in the top of the 12th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Eric Novaria for a 2-run home run. It put USC in front, 10-8.

Mississippi State manager Carlton Price said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."
