The North Carolina Tar Heels faced a tough opponent in Clemson pitcher Mike Justice, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Bruisers Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Justice went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. North Carolina reliever Billy Still picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jay Vaughan took the loss. The win lifts North Carolina to a record of 4-3.
Bobby Sides came through for North Carolina when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 3-1 fastball to center field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
In comments to the North Carolina News, Sides insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
