Despite a fine performance by catcher Bob Roth, the Michigan Wolverines suffered a 15-14 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Roth belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Georgia Tech reliever Nate Zinter was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. James Arnold took the loss for Michigan. Georgia Tech has a mark of 3-3 after the win.

The Yellow Jackets were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when first baseman Jamie Fisher turned a first pitch fastball from James Arnold into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Georgia Tech a thrilling 15-14 win.

"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Michigan skipper Esteban Núñes.
