Ragin Cajuns Score Late to Upend Green Wave, 8-7
|
Tulane got a terrific game from second baseman Jayden Stevenson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Louisiana-Layfayette, 8-7. Stevenson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. The win was credited to Terry Russo in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Corey Stave took the loss. John Crouch finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Ragin Cajuns sent 19-year-old second baseman Nick Kowalenko to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run, to put Louisiana-Layfayette on top, 5-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Kowalenko said after the game.
Louisiana-Layfayette is now 3-2.
