Volunteers Suffer 8-6 Setback
John Bidwell had a good game, but he could not keep the Tennessee Volunteers from falling, 8-6, to the Indiana State Sycamores at Pit Vipers Ballpark. The Tennessee shortstop was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 in the loss. Tyler Petru was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. The loss drops Tennessee to 1-4.

The Sycamores beat the Volunteers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Chad Burt produced in the bottom of the second. Batting against Tennessee pitcher Jaiden Shepard, Burt gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
