Bulldogs Fall to Long, Ducks
|
Oregon and Mississippi State put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Oregon Ducks beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 16-4, at Crunch Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Zachary Long, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Donnie Bower was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
When the Ducks needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Long who delivered. Facing Mississippi State pitcher Jamal Gainey the bottom of the second with the bases loaded, Long hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 7-2.
Long called the triumph "a good team win."
With the loss, Mississippi State falls to 2-2.
