Bruins Go Down to Defeat, 7-5
|
Long Beach State catcher Bill Beasley made his presence felt in the 7-5 49'ers triumph over the UCLA Bruins. Beasley was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times. Scott Mims picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Paul Poorman was tagged with the loss. David Guyer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Chase Hoene chipped in for Long Beach State, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll try to build on that win," Beasley told the Long Beach State Times.
The 49'ers, now 3-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
