Hurricanes Deal Commodores Painful Loss
Vanderbilt got a terrific game from third baseman Brent Biernacki. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Miami, 5-4. Biernacki was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs. Miami reliever T.J. Hurd picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kyle Harless was saddled with the loss. With their winning streak at 4, the Hurricanes have raced to a strong start this season.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Miami second baseman William Smith, facing Kyle Harless, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Hurricanes the 5-4 win.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Vanderbilt manager Álex Negrón.
