Tigers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Virginia, 4-3
|
In a close game at Zodiac Ballpark, the Auburn Tigers edged the Virginia Cavaliers, 4-3. Auburn catcher Mike Rocha earned the nod as player of the game. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Auburn reliever John Mitchell picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kris Richardson was saddled with the loss. The win takes Auburn to 3-0.
Auburn took the lead in the bottom of the eighth when Rocha hit a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season made the score 4-3, Auburn.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Auburn skipper Victor Rafferty. "I can't complain."
