Gamecocks Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
South Carolina pitcher Curtis Simpson did his part in helping his team beat the Florida Gators, 9-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Simpson, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. The Gamecocks, now 1-2, have not found much traction so far in 2032.

Scott Herrin's at-bat in the bottom of the second inning was a big one for South Carolina. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and South Carolina leading 1-0, the second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
