Golden Eagles Roll Over Titans, 9-3
South Mississippi played host to Cal State Fullerton at the friendly confines of Ballpark of Storm Lake College.

The South Mississippi Golden Eagles stopped the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 9-3, behind an impressive performance from Danny Medina. The 19-year old shortstop made life miserable for Cal State Fullerton pitching. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. George Fawns got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1.

The Golden Eagles beat the Titans in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Fernando Duran produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against Cal State Fullerton pitcher Karl Macey, Duran gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Medina told the South Mississippi Citizen.

With the loss, Cal State Fullerton drops to 1-1.
