Halstead Lifts Gators to 14-9 Win
Lee Halstead was the difference-maker for the Florida Gators in what turned into a shootout with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Halstead earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-3 in the 14-9 Gators win. Glen Nusz earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. The Gators, now 2-0, have been on a roll in the early going.

It could have been a different outcome for Florida, had it not been for Allen Cargle, the 19-year old center fielder . Cargle contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Florida up, 3-1.
