The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 8-0, in Skip Bertman League action at Ballpark of Bloomfield College, with Ohio State shortstop Kurt Bittinger named player of the game. Adam Extine went 5.1 innings for Ohio State to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with no earned runs. He scattered 2 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Bobby Tibbals picked up the save, his 1st.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the fourth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Oklahoma State trailing 1-0, Adam Extine needed to get a big out. On a 1-0 fastball, Shawn Hodges flied out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
With the win, Ohio State boosts its record to 1-1.
