Sun Devils Shut Out Golden Eagles
Crowds lined up early in front of Ballpark of Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley College, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2032 USA NCAA DIVISION I season. On the mound was Danny Cook for the visiting South Mississippi Golden Eagles and Bill Rankin for the hometown Arizona State Sun Devils. In a spirited contest, the Sun Devils pulled out the win, defeating the Golden Eagles by the score of 1-0. Earning player of the game honors was Bill Rankin. Bob Clayton was credited with the save for Arizona State, his 1st of the season.

The Sun Devils beat the Golden Eagles with some clutch hitting. The single by Brent Driggs in the bottom of the sixth is a good example. With two down, Driggs gave his team the lead, 1-0, when he came through with the big hit.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rankin said after the game.
