Toreros Get One-Run Win at San Francisco
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the San Francisco Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Masazumi Ohayashi, who captured player of the game honors. Ohayashi got the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. Ohayashi allowed 4 earned runs. Lloyd Hunt converted his 17th save in 20 tries.
In the top of the 5th, Cabo San Lucas took the lead on a 2-run home run by Jorge Rodríguez. At the time, the Toreros were trailing 3-2, but Rodríguez's hit with two outs against San Francisco pitcher Jo-hsi Sang put them in front, 4-3.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Francisco manager Julián Flores. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Cabo San Lucas is now 30-36.
