Pelicans Walk Off with 6-5 Win
The St. Petersburg Pelicans scored a 6-5 win versus the Palm Beach Bums at Billy Mathews Field. St. Petersburg pitcher Gabriel Mendoza nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Jim Unknown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Keith Shapiro was tagged with the loss. The Bums have now dropped 12 straight.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the 12th. With St. Petersburg trailing 5-4, Larry Castillo hit a fastball from Keith Shapiro to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Pelicans had a walk-off win.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Clement Snow, the St. Petersburg skipper. "This one tested us."
