Loss Extends Palm Beach Losing Streak
|
Pedro Torres left his imprint on the 9-4 St. Petersburg win against the Palm Beach Bums. Torres was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winner was Adrian Bogle in relief. His record improves to 2-5. Lee Alford took the loss. Jaiden Harris was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 22 save opportunities.
Torres came through with some timely hitting for St. Petersburg. With the score 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Torres hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single. His 58th hit of the season made it 6-3, St. Petersburg.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Torres told the St. Petersburg Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
