San Angelo Beats New Orleans, 6-2
|
The San Angelo Mustangs topped the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 6-2, with youngster Kazuaki Kishi playing a key role. Kishi went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Mustangs in the win. San Angelo reliever Emílio Buenvenida picked up the win, upping his record to 14-1. Hao Yuen was saddled with the loss. San Angelo, at 95-65, occupies second place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division.
In the bottom of the 7th, designated hitter Orlando Talamantez gave San Angelo the lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Mustangs had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out double off New Orleans pitcher Rich Owen changed that -- and San Angelo went on to win.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Talamantez said after the game.
