Princes Down Hornets, 7-1
|
The Bel Air Princes took Bethesda pitcher Eugene Spencer's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hornets Field. The final score had Bel Air getting past the Hornets, 7-1. Spencer went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 6. Tomohito Ihara picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-6. Eugene Spencer was tagged with the loss. Quiang Tu was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Wayne Steiert played a key role in the win for the Princes. The designated hitter punched a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning. For the game, Steiert went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
In comments to the Bel Air Bulletin, Steiert admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Bel Air now has a 3-game win streak.
