Narrow Win Takes Westside Streak to 9
|
Road Warriors Field was the site for a late-season clash between two of the league's best.
In a close game at Road Warriors Field, the Westside Road Warriors edged the Tree City Black Squirrels, 5-4. Westside left fielder Li-xue Liu earned the nod as player of the game. He was 1-2 with 3 walks. He scored 2 runs. The winning streak has now reached 9 games for Westside.
Hiroshige Inouye found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Tree City hurler Cory Kieck, the 21-year-old designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly. His 61st RBI of the season put the Road Warriors on top, 5-4.
"Someone different steps up for us each time out," said Wilfred Brooks, the Westside skipper.
