Tight Tilt Goes to Princes, 4-3
|
Eugene got a terrific game from center fielder Joe Coleman. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Bel Air, 4-3. Coleman was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Kanichi Kaneshiro got credit for the win, improving to 2-5. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Shayne Cluff picked up the save for Bel Air, his 26th of the year.
Bel Air took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two out, center fielder Jonathan Weidlich hit a solo home run that aroused the crowd.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Weidlich said.
The Princes saw their record improve to 62-94.
