Hornets Get One-Run Win at Tree City
|
The Nut House was the site of a tense game between the Tree City Black Squirrels and Bethesda Hornets.
In a low-scoring game between Bethesda and Tree City, pitcher Franck Guillaume was excellent. The Bethesda right-hander was named the player of the game in Bethesda's 2-1 win. Guillaume, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks.
Had Andrés Morales not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Morales hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Hornets.
"The old adage is true," said Guillaume. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The Hornets bumped their record to 79-77 with this latest triumph.
