River Chiefs Win at Charleston, 4-2
|
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Marc Richards, the Charleston Panthers suffered a 4-2 loss to the Chippewa River Chiefs. Richards was 3-4 with a home run and a double. Owen Lewis, credited with the win, is now 7-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. The first-place River Chiefs, at 99-56, now lead their division by 4˝ games.
Alex Bahena helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a solo home run to give Chippewa a 1-0 lead.
"We're in the driver's seat," said Bahena. "I like our chances."
