Stogies Snatch Late Win
|
Havana Stogies starter Peter Miner was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Hawaii Islanders, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Miner, now 11-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Teguh Suharto earned the save for Havana, his 26th of the year.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Reynaldo Aguilera's at-bat in the top of the eighth was crucial. With no one out, the Havana designated hitter hit a 2-run home run, to give his team a 4-2 lead.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Miner.
The Stogies improved to a lofty 48-19.
